The Com-Pac Eclipse
Classic lines, modern approach
Designed for ease of trailering and set up with the Mastendr System, this new sloop from Hutchins has a shallow 18" draft board up and 58" board down. The plumb, shallow entry bow allows this sloop to glide through the roughest of seas with comfort. The beamy cabin is very comfortable for two, and will sleep 4 when converted into camping mode.
The stainless arch over the cockpit is multi-functional, providing a hand-hold while boarding, an out of the way yet convenient place for the mainsheet traveler, a frame and storage spot for the optional Bimini top, a boom gallows, and a mast rest while trailering. There are integral stainless mooring cleats welded on either side of the arch, and the arch frame will accept such accessories as rod holders, drink holders, and the like.
The transom is clutter free to provide easy boarding via the stainless boarding ladder. The outboard motor bracket is extremely sturdy and very easy to reach.
Classic good looks, rugged Com-Pac contruction, quality hardware, and modern design elements combine to make the Eclipse the best new package from Com-Pac in years!

Hull and Deck
Eclipse's open transom is not just stylish. Easy boarding with the integrated folding ladder makes swimming just that much more fun. And her shallow draft of less than a foot and a half brings you knee deep to your favorite beach.
The hull and deck are fabricated entirely of hand-laid triaxial fiberglass and polyester resin. An external deck-to-hull joint with stainless bolt fasteners has been employed, which is protected with a rigid PVC abrasion-resistant covering and stainless steel rubrail.
All through-hull fittings and chain plates are installed with glassed-over plywood backing blocks. "Egyptian Cream"-colored deck and cabin exterior are standard colors for Eclipse.
Deck has molded-in non-skid surface. | Spars, Sails & Rigging
While not designed for racing but for comfort and ease of handling, Eclipse will not be apologetic for her speed or agility. Her standard heads'l furling gear and convenient line clutches are ideal for the single sailor. Main reefing is also standard to maximize safety afloat.
Roller-furling 115% Genoa heads'l
Genoa sheeting track with sheet-lead cars | Cockpit
The Eclipse's wide cockpit is spanned by a stainless steel arch which serves as boom gallows and traveler when rigged, mast stand when trailered, and as a frame for the optional Bimini top. | Galley
Galley has sink, water tank, hand pump, stove and storage. Com-Pac engineers have made the most of usable space, with part of the galley removable, and the rest covered by filler cushions when in sleeping mode. | Cabin
The Eclipse has been designed, built and outfitted as an overnighter for 4 adults or a couple with kids. She will also serve as a weekender for two using only the v-berth for sleeping while preserving the settees.
Each settee/quarter berth has ample storage bins underneath. Shelves with backrest bins line the hull for the length of the main cabin.
Four opening ports provide the cabin with lots of sunlight and fresh air.
Teak doors, fiddles and a teak/holly sole gives the Eclipse a rich, traditional decor. A lift hatch with smoke-colored Lexan see-thhrough top, located at the forward end of the cabin, provides additional light and ventilation.
Internal construction is conventional wood, except for the cabin overhead that receives a fiberglass liner. | Head
Porta Potti stows conveniently under cockpit. |
